From the two-line marble inscription above the prayer window, it is understood that the structure was built for Nûreddin b. Sentimur, one of the Mongol emirs who died in 713 AH (1314 CE). The Esentimur (Nureddin bin Sentimur) Tomb has an eight-pointed star plan, rising in brick on an ashlar-stone body and crowned with a pyramidal cap. Architecturally, the tomb is a synthesis of the Anatolian Seljuk tradition with influences from the Iran-Mesopotamia region.
