Editor's Note
Dating to the late Ottoman period, the building was constructed as a primary school in 1888 (AH 1306) and converted into a Mekteb-i Rüştiye (middle school) in 1894 (AH 1312). During the reign of Abdülhamid II it served as a military recruitment office, and over time also functioned as a school, a boarding house and a prison. Once a derelict unit in the garden of Mecitözü High School, it has since been restored and turned into a Public Education building. The building has a rectangular plan and was built as two storeys over a basement.
