The Istanbul Gate forms the northern entrance to the city. The plan shows three gateways aligned on the same axis. Restoration work is being carried out by the Bursa Metropolitan Municipality. In 2017 and 2018 the Iznik Museum Directorate conducted exploratory excavations to provide data for the restoration. The restoration is ongoing and is in the review-board process. First construction phase: 1st century A.D., the Titus period; it was damaged in the earthquake of A.D. 130. Second construction phase: 2nd century A.D.
