Editor's Note
Besides being the oldest Ottoman structure within the borders of Bolu Province, it is one of the early Ottoman buildings still standing in Anatolia. Built on a nearly square, rectangular plan, it was constructed as a Friday Mosque. The mosque was built of rubble stone with wooden tie-beams placed between the courses, and cut stone was used at its corners. The mosque's wooden roof is covered with traditional alaturka tiles; some damaged sections of the roof have been renewed with Marseille-type tiles. Inside the mosque, running east-west, there is a wooden gallery, a minbar showing fine woodwork, and a mihrab.
