Editor's Note
At the foot of the mountain known in antiquity as Mount Didymus stands a complex made up of a monastery, a church, and groups of buildings. Its masonry technique indicates that it was a religious monument used by the Greeks in the 19th century. The surviving foundations and wall remains show that it had two stories above a basement. Of the church that survives today, the south wall and part of the apse wall remain standing and visible. Source: Balikesir Provincial Directorate of Culture and Tourism.
