This site lies within the boundaries of the Yazıcıoğlu neighbourhood, in the Gelibolu district of Çanakkale province. Originally a prayer hall (mescit) built in the reign of Murad II, it was rebuilt together with the nearby grave in AH 1254 (1838/1839), during the reign of Sultan Abdülmecid. After this structure too had collapsed, the present mosque was built by the General Directorate of Foundations.
