Editor's Note
This fountain lies within the boundaries of Umurbey village, in the Lapseki district of Çanakkale province. The single-façade fountain is known by this name because it bears three inscriptions. All three inscriptions have been found to come from fountains built at different times, and they are said to have been transferred here from demolished fountains. The large inscription above the fountain's tap, written in Arabic in the thuluth script, states that it was a fountain built in AH 857 (1453 AD), during the reign of Sultan Mehmed the Conqueror, by a man named Bali el-hac Hızır.
