Editor's Note
There is an inscription above the entrance door on the western facade of the Church of Michael the Archistrategos. The eight-line marble inscription states that the church dedicated to Michael the Archistrategos was built in September 1843, during the time of Ioseph, Panierotatos and Metropolitan of İznik. Moreover, S. Gerlach, who visited Ulubat in the sixteenth century, gives the names of the six churches then existing there, one of which is the church dedicated to St. Michael.
