Editor's Note
The excavation revealed that the building was a church covering roughly 430 m², running east-west on a cruciform plan, probably with three naves and a three-part apse projecting outward. Its walls were built of red Khorasan mortar, cut stone, rubble stone and brick. Among the stonework, various Roman and Early Byzantine architectural elements such as column drums and capitals were reused as building material, sometimes broken up and sometimes whole. The exterior of the walls was laid quite neatly.
