Editor's Note
The Tomb of Şeyh Hasan Bey is popularly known as Güdük Minare (the Stunted Minaret). This structure was built in the mid-14th century by Alaeddin Eretna for his deceased eldest son, Şeyh Hasan Bey. Although it is in fact a mausoleum, it resembles a minaret because the transition elements from the square plan to the drum (the Turkish triangles) are quite large and the drum is built tall.
