Editor's Note
One of the first freestanding cinema buildings in Sivas, the structure began to be built in 1932-33, adjoining the north wall of the Kale Mosque. Opening in 1936 as the "Yeni Hayat Cinema," its name was changed in 1939 to the "Tan Cinema." Commissioned by Çeltekli Rahmi, the cinema was designed by the architect Hasan Tahsin. The building underwent a thorough restoration in the late 1950s, with its façades renewed. During Rahmi Günay's term as mayor, it was demolished in the early 1970s to open up the area around the Kale Mosque, and its site was turned into a green space.
