Built of rubble stone with timber tie-beams used here and there, the mosque has a three-aisled plan running perpendicular to the mihrab wall. The building is quite plain in terms of decoration. Where ornament does occur, however, it is concentrated in certain parts of the structure. The mihrab and minbar stand out as the building's most striking features. Both for its history and inscriptions and as an example of the wooden-columned, wooden-ceilinged mosques built across Anatolia for centuries, the Yayıközü Mosque is noteworthy. 1
