Editor's Note
According to the inscription on the minaret of the Karamağara (Saraykent) Mosque, which has not survived to the present day, it was commissioned by Mahperi Hatun in 1238. While carrying out his field research in 1933, H. H. von der Osten gave the inn the name "Cimcimli Sultan Han." It is not clear when this name was changed to "Çınçınlı" or "Çinçinli." The word "Cimcimli" recalls the Turkish word "cimcime," which means "a small and lively woman." It also evokes the verb "çimmek," that is, "to bathe or to swim."
