It is called the Hamidiye Mosque because it was commissioned by Sultan Abdulhamid II. Its inscription indicates that it was built on 29 August 1908. The inscription reads: "This noble Hamidiye Mosque was newly built and restored, by the grace of God Almighty, through the imperial efforts of His Majesty the Sultan son of the Sultan, the Gazi Abdulhamid Khan II, in the year 1326, on the 1st of Saban." This Hamidiye Mosque was rebuilt through the efforts of the Gazi Abdulhamid Khan II, a sultan and son of a sultan, and with the help of God.
