Editor's Note
The battery was commissioned in 1889 by Sultan Abdulhamid II. Set slightly back from the shore, it was built on a northeast-southwest axis so as to target naval forces entering the strait from the Aegean. The structure has survived to the present in sound condition and is a battery open to visitors. It was registered by decision no. 4507 of the Canakkale Regional Directorate for the Conservation of Cultural Property, dated March 26, 2018.
