Editor's Note
Mustafa Kemal Ataturk personally oversaw the preparations for founding the Turkseker Eskisehir Sugar Factory. In an interview with Kenan Mortan, the Economy Minister of the period, Celal Bayar recounted that in selecting the factory's site, Ataturk wanted it built not on land far from transport routes but somewhere visible to everyone traveling by rail and road, in order to keep public morale high. The Turkseker Eskisehir Sugar Factory was established by the "Anatolian Sugar Factories Turkish Joint-Stock Company," founded with three million in capital.
