İnkaya Cave was discovered in 2016 as part of the Neogene and Pleistocene Surface Survey of Muğla and Çanakkale provinces, carried out since 2012 by an international team led by Prof. Dr. İsmail Özer. The cave lies within the village of Bahadırlı in the Çan district of Çanakkale province. Its name was kept unchanged in scientific studies, taken from the İnkayalar locality as known to the residents of Bahadırlı village.
