The building, whose architect is unknown, was according to the three-line construction inscription above its entrance commissioned in 1214 AH / 1799 AD by Köse Mustafa Paşa, who had it built by masters brought from Urfa. Cut stone was used on the western and northern facades and rough-hewn stone on the southern and eastern facades. Belonging to the central-plan group of mosques, its central octagonal dome is flanked by barrel vaults on four sides, while the square spaces at the corners are covered with cross vaults. The form of the covering is not reflected on the exterior, which is concealed by a tiled roof.
