Editor's Note
The Surp Toros Church was one of the Armenian Orthodox churches in Kütahya. Before 1915, around 4,000 Armenians lived in the city, a population represented by three Armenian churches and the three Armenian schools attached to them. Two of these churches were Armenian Orthodox (Surp Asdvadzadzin and Surp Toros) and one was an Armenian Catholic church (Surp Asdvadzin). The Surp Toros Church is thought to have been built during the reign of Sultan Murad. Burned during the Celali revolts of 1603, the church was rebuilt within a short time.
