Editor's Note
Based on its architectural features, the Balabaniye Medrese is thought to date to the late 14th century, and the building is therefore attributed to the period of the Germiyanid dynasty. Although it is not known for certain when or by whom it was built, it has also been known popularly as the "Nallı Medrese". The building has no construction inscription; however, an inscription dated AH 1293/AD 1896, now displayed in the Kütahya Museum, relates to the medrese's conversion into a Halveti lodge.
