Editor's Note
Of the historic Merkez Mosque in the town centre of Boğazlıyan, only its minaret survives today. Built before 1885-1886, the historic mosque wore down over time and began to collapse, so in later years it was demolished and a new one built in its place. The minaret, built at the same time as the mosque, was left untouched. Standing on a three-tiered, marble-clad podium, the structure has a body entirely of regular cut stone in the form of a rectangular prism, and it stands in the garden of the Çarşı Mosque, to its northeast.
