Editor's Note
The Hacı Ahmet Ağa Mosque in the town centre of Boğazlıyan was, according to Prof. Dr. Hakkı Acun of Gazi University, built before 1719. The mosque has undergone several repairs and, with changes to both its structure and its minaret, has taken its present form. The minaret, which had a single balcony when first built, now has two. On the section of the minaret up to the first balcony, coloured stones arranged in a checkerboard pattern catch the eye. Rectangular in plan and with a gabled roof, the mosque is lit by 11 windows and, apart from the checkerboard decoration on the minaret, has no other ornamentation.
