Editor's Note
The Kayırhan Caravanserai was built on the Kayseri-Sivas road in the 13th century by Kayırhan, a Khwarazmian Turkmen bey who became one of the most trusted emirs of Alaeddin Keykubad, the powerful sultan of the Anatolian Seljuk State. Built to help restore security and order in Anatolia after the Battle of Yassıçemen in 1230, this caravanserai offered safe lodging to the caravans traveling between East and West, while also strengthening the security of the trade routes.
