Editor's Note

The Taxiarchis Church, located southeast of the Han Mosque in the Han neighborhood, was built in place of a church destroyed by an earthquake in 1729. It underwent repairs in the 1860s, during which the church's entrance section was added. The building was made for Greek Orthodox worshippers. The community that left Talas during the population exchange used it until the church passed into private ownership. The structure was later converted into a residence and is abandoned today.
