Editor's Note
It lies in the area of Gümüşkonak village, formerly named Yörme/Yürme, in the Günyüzü district of Eskişehir province. Germia, one of the cities of the Galatia II thema in the Early Byzantine period, was also a pilgrimage center. A fragment of Christ's tunic preserved in the crypt of the church here played an important role in making the city a pilgrimage center. It is known that Emperor Justinian came here to pray and bathe shortly before his death. The ruins of a church named the Church of the Archangel Michael are found in the city.
