Editor's Note
Located south of the district center, on a hill commanding the area and in the neighborhood of the same name, the Rızaiye Mosque has partly lost its authenticity through interventions in recent years. In its original construction it consisted of a nearly square rectangular-plan prayer hall and a call-to-prayer (ezanlık) section to the northwest of the hall; a minaret was added to its southwest in 1974. The mosque is covered by a hipped, tiled roof, and because its north façade has undergone extensive intervention, it is unclear whether there was actually a portico for latecomers. The underside of the prayer hall's flat wooden ceiling is covered with a plastic material, and its mihrab is quite plain.
