Editor's Note
It was founded in 1840 by the Rothschild family and served as the administrative centre of the İzmir Jewish Community. The building also functioned as a Jewish school until the 1930s and contained a bakery to meet needs during Passover. Abandoned after the Jewish Community moved to Alsancak in 1997, the single-storey building now has a collapsed roof and floor.
