Editor's Note
It was founded in their own home by Rabbi Hayim Palaçi and his son Avraham Palaçi. Hayim and Avraham Palaçi were regarded as among the most important Jewish religious scholars of their time, and their ideas and works are still held in esteem today; indeed, Hayim Palaçi was honoured with a decoration by Sultan Abdülmecit. This synagogue, which was Hayim Palaçi's home, together with his grave in the Gürçeşme Cemetery and the mikveh pool also located there, are regarded by Jews as a 'diamond triangle'.
