Editor's Note
It is known among the local people as the Hacet Dede Tomb. On important religious days people come here to tie strips of cloth to the trees, recite prayers and make wishes. However, in a recent excavation carried out by the Manisa Provincial Directorate of Culture and Tourism, no grave was found in this area. This building is the mosque (mescit) that, according to the sources, Saruhan Bey had built to mark the conquest of Manisa. The mosque was built abutting the outer castle walls. It has the distinction of being the only surviving work from the period of Saruhan Bey.
