Editor's Note
Also called the "Sarıca Kilise" (Yellowish Church) because yellow is the dominant colour of the region, the Kepez Churches lie to the southeast of Ortahisar, about 4 km from the town. Sharing the features of other churches found in the Cappadocia region, one of these churches has a distinctive architectural style: its closed "Greek cross" plan has three domes and two apses. The other, though built in the same style, has a single dome and a single apse. These churches are thought to date to the 10th-11th century AD.
