Editor's Note
Construction date: AH 1258 (AD 1842). The mosque, located in the centre of the town of Ortahisar in Ürgüp with a courtyard and ablution fountain set to its north, bears two Ottoman-Turkish inscriptions above its entrance. According to the inscription, the mosque dates to AH 1258, and the grave in its portico (son cemaat yeri) gives the same date. This grave is thought to belong to a man named Abdioğlu, who is believed to have been the building's patron; the mosque therefore took the name Abdioğlu. Built of finely dressed cut stone, the structure is in very good condition today. The courtyard to its north is entered through a depressed-arched doorway on the east.
