These are church colonies located on the Balkanderesi Valley, about 2 km from the town of Ortahisar in the district of Ürgüp. They date to the Iconoclastic period (AD 726-842) and form part of a monastery complex. A small chapel decorated with frescoes from later periods also survives. Source: Cappadocia Cultural Route
