It was built by Karavezir Silahtar Seyyid Mehmed Pasha in 1778-1779. The architect of the complex is known to have been Ebubekir Veledi Halil Efendi, who worked for a daily wage of eight akce. With its architecture it belongs to the Late Ottoman period.
