According to its inscription, the fountain was built by Saatci Ali Dede in AH 1267 / AD 1851. It also has another inscription stating that it was repaired by the tomb-keeper Feyzullah Baba in AH 1323 / AD 1905. The construction inscription reads as follows: 'The good work of Saatci Ali Dede; he laid the foundation of this water. May the thirst of those who come and go be quenched; may the faithful servants offer good prayers. It became a holy station of guidance; this water of the eye flowed forth. In the year 1267 the master inscribed its date upon the stone.'
