Editor's Note
From the inscription of this mosque, located south of the Kale neighborhood within the outer walls of the Ottoman Fortress, it is understood to have been built in 1584. The square-plan mosque was built in a plain style. To the north of the main hall is a portico (last congregation place) covered by three small domes and opening onto the courtyard through three arches. The interior is lit by three windows on the east and west walls and two each on the north and south walls. The mihrab niche projects outward and is five-sided. Pointed-arched squinches effect the transition from the mosque's square plan to the dome. A pyramidal roof rising on an octagonal drum covers the inner dome.
