Editor's Note
The Dede Maksut Tomb, located in Ahlat's Ikikubbe neighborhood opposite the Emir Ali Tomb, is thought to have been built before 1538. Since Dede Maksut's name appears as a witness in the endowment deed of a man named Sheikh Ahmet dated AH 945 (AD 1538-39), he is understood to have been alive at that time. The tomb is therefore dated to the 16th century. Measuring 6.46 by 5.73 m, it is a very modest little structure built of Ahlat's finely cut stone. Its walls are 2.80 m high and terminate in a simple molding.
