Editor's Note

The Ansir Caves Settlement and Cemetery lies within the bounds of Buzluk Mahalle in the Yazihan district (Yazihan-Buzluk: 13 km). It sits along a geological fault system running northeast to southwest. The cave formations existing along this fault system were made fit for living by people. The shaping was carried out with tools made from the hard basalt found within the Yamadag volcanics. The first research into the region was conducted by the French archaeologist Louis Delaporte in 1932.
