Yusuf Ziya Paşa Kütüphanesi, Keban

Editor's Note

The library within the Yusuf Ziya Pasha Complex, in the northwest of the courtyard, is a domed building on a square plan with the transition achieved by pendentives and an octagonal drum on the exterior. The two-story building is entered on the ground floor from the east side (the facade facing the courtyard) through a pointed-arched door flanked on either side by a rectangular window with a frame and iron grille. Above the building's pointed-arched door is a five-couplet inscription. The inscription yields the date AH 1212 (1797-98) by abjad reckoning, and it notes that the wooden minbar in the mosque was also renewed.
