Editor's Note
The Umur Bey Mosque was built in 1455 using wooden posts and a wooden ceiling. It was one of the finest examples of its style. The mosque grounds, designed as a complex (külliye), included a madrasa, a bath and a caravanserai. The buildings were demolished in 1936.
