The memorial symbolises the moment when, after touring the battlefield on 31 August 1922, Commander-in-Chief Mustafa Kemal Atatürk, together with İsmet Paşa and Fevzi Paşa, made his final assessment of the situation in the courtyard of a ruined house in Zafertepeçalköy, seated on a broken oxcart. The monument was built in 2007. During his visit to Zafertepeçalköy on 30 August 1922, Commander-in-Chief Mustafa Kemal Atatürk gave the following speech, which is inscribed on the monument's wall: "Gentlemen. Just as on this very day, on 30 August 1922, at two o'clock, I had come to this very spot where we now all stand together."
