Editor's Note
The Tatvan Han is located in the old village of Tatvan, and today only some wall remains are still standing. The lines of its outer walls and its corner buttresses can still be seen clearly. The han's courtyardless plan resembles that of hans from the late Seljuk and early Ottoman periods. Its gate is thought to have been on either the east or west façade. Although it cannot be dated precisely, the han is estimated to belong to the period between the late 12th and the early 15th century. Location uncertain. 1 2 The Tatvan Han is a historic structure situated on the shore of Lake Van, in the Tatvan district of Bitlis.
