Editor's Note
Tahir Pasha Mansion, one of the finest examples of traditional Van domestic architecture, was built in the 1880s and served as the residence of İşkodralı Tahir Pasha, governor of Van between 1898 and 1906. During this period the young Bediüzzaman Said Nursî was a guest here for about fifteen winters. Tahir Pasha's son Cevdet Bey, who had been Said Nursî's student at the Horhor Madrasa, later served as governor of Van himself. Some memories from the childhood of Kazım Karabekir Pasha are also part of the mansion's history.
