Editor's Note
The Margap Monastery lies in the Bahçebaşı (Orduzu) neighborhood, at the Margap locality, 750 m east of the Margap Pond and 850 m southwest of the Kaldırım Pond, on a volcanic hill 1,100 m high. Two rectangular structures have been identified on the site. The larger of the two, thought to be the monastery's main building, is oriented east-west; the smaller, an outbuilding, is oriented north-south and set 7 m from the larger building. The structures are popularly known as "Heaven and Hell." They have suffered extensive damage.
