Editor's Note
The Kırk Kardeşler (Forty Brothers) Cemetery is set on a natural hill and is believed by the people to have come into being when Battalgazi and his forty companions fell as martyrs in battles fought here. The site covers an area of 125 x 450 m. Both gravestones dominated by Seljuk stonework and ornamentation and gravestones showing Ottoman-period features have been found here. It appears to have been used in both periods. In 2011-2012, excavation and cleaning work was carried out under the Museum Directorate in cooperation with KUDEB. 13th and 14th centuries.
