Editor's Note
The Çingene Han is a Seljuk-period caravanserai built in the first half of the 13th century on the Malatya-Elbistan route. The structure, which has not survived to the present day, had a rectangular plan close to a square and was oriented east-west. Its decorated portal and some of its architectural elements are now used at the entrance of Derme Primary School. Its inscription is lost; however, because it shares similar names with the Malatya Grand Mosque, it is dated to around 1224. In terms of plan type, the Çingene Han resembles the Sultan Hans of Aksaray and Kayseri.
