Editor's Note
It is located within the boundaries of Camiikebir Quarter, Maden district, Elazığ province. The Cami-i Kebir (Grand Mosque) was built on the southern slope of the Mihrap Stream. The mosque, situated at the center of the district market, remained without a minaret for many years. Its minaret was built in 1899. It is precisely its minaret that makes the Cami-i Kebir unique. Built in octagonal form with a single balcony, the minaret is the first minaret in Elazığ to be constructed in a polygonal shape. The minaret's inscription has survived intact to the present day.
