The building materials and construction technique used in the houses of the Akçadağ district share similar features with the houses of other districts. The main building materials are stone, wood, and adobe. The houses are two-storied, with adobe rubble-masonry walls on a stone foundation. The half-timbered (hımış) technique with adobe infill was applied in the projections and partition walls. Climate and cultural features shaped the form of the houses. Built so as to suit neighborly relations, the houses also have examples constructed in a single row. The Akçadağ houses date from the first quarter of the 20th century to the 20th.
