Hantepe Mound stands on the hill at the Hantepe locality in Akçadağ, about 800 m beyond Doğantepe Quarter along the highway leading to the town of Darende-Balaban, and about 30 m north of the road. The settlement fill of the mound that yields stratigraphy was measured at 2 m. In the stratigraphic section exposed by surface settlement and terracing, the cultural layers feature thin, fine-quality red ceramics with thick linear decoration and pithos fragments in light, lightly burnished pinkish tones. It is thought to have been settled, with chronological breaks, between the 2nd millennium BC and the 1st millennium AD.
