Editor's Note
The Şeyh Ümmî Dervish Lodge is a religious building constructed in the 14th century during the Eretnid period, in the time of Giyaseddin Mehmed, at some date after AH 753 / AD 1352. It is notable as the only dervish lodge in Develi whose endowment deed is known. Şeyh Ümmî, accepted as its founder and known among the people as Şıh Emmi, is believed to have been one of four commanders who came from Khorasan. A member of the Ahi brotherhood, Şeyh Ümmî also belonged to the Rufai order. He is buried in the cemetery known as the Abıt Lodge at the Büyük Yazı site.
