The Saray Monastery is an open-courtyard building complex in a central location to the southeast of the Erdemli Valley, which the villagers call "Saray" (Palace). It is striking that the village's agricultural life developed especially around this building complex. While the Saray Monastery encompassed the settlement's administrative structures, with the wine presses around it, it also held control over the village's agricultural life. The wine presses, the village's only mill, and the bakeries were all located around this complex. The Saray Monastery, which organised and managed agricultural life, was therefore of great importance to the settlement.
